wordpress move - at last

A move is afoot pulling this blog out of it's slumbers and into a new home on wordpress, using a new wordpress template, and with a couple of new contributors. I'll be posting the link here in a couple of days when the hosting is all in place. Sorry for the silence!

Check tonight launched

A very specific health service, offering to "Get Tested, Share your Results, Check your Dates". Basically you get your doctor to test your STD status, sign a form, send it to CheckTonight who then register you as STD free.

You can then have them text your date to confirm you are 'safe' to have fun with "on the night, not the morning after". Privacy is obviously going to be a big issue here, and CheckTonight are dealing with this head on - from the homepage "CheckTonight understands its responsibility for the confidentiality of your information and we take this responsibility very seriously"

A fee of $25/yr plus $3 per text message confirming your status is charged. Which could get pretty expensive depending on how lucky you keep getting.

Healthline’s new Symptom Search

How simple can an offering get? "Discover possible causes based on the symptoms you enter" seems pretty straightforward to me. The disclaimer is that any information is for informational purposes only, as you would expect.

"Symptom search lets you enter one or multiple symptoms you’re experiencing and displays licenced articles from medical professionals about conditions that could be causing those symptoms".

A very slick, though to my eye quite ugly, AJAX interface steers you through the process, narrowing the options to describe your symptoms. My "tightness in chest" and "pain in hand" returned no results, though "pain in foot" and "back pain" did return some useful results.

I'd love to see this on my mobile phone.
